POETRY - Welcome to my world

About me

Hi,

I'm Nick,  I've been diagnosed with PTSD for the last 12 years

I suffer as a result of something that happened whilst out in Iraq, during Op Telic 5, as a Forces Broadcaster with BFBS Radio

I've travelled the World presenting Radio Shows for the British Military and their families.  Those places include - Germany, Gibraltar, Northern Ireland, Belize, Canada, The Falkland Islands, Kosovo, Bosnia, and Cyprus.

Although i've been open about living with PTSD in the hope to inspire others to seek support - I've never been able to talk about how I suffer, what the illness does to me, or what goes on in my head.  Sitting down with family and trying to explain it all has been impossible.  Until now...

Help for Heroes are the only charity to support me - Welcoming, supporting, and listening to me every step of the way.  I'm proud to say - they've made me an Ambassador.  They saved my life, part of that was suggesting new activities and hobbies to focus my mind - one of which - poetry.

Through my poems, I've opened up more than ever before.  They've helped my loved ones understand why I am like I am.  I feel it's time to share my words to the World.

All poems are in chronological order

After reading my work, its important to state - I'm OK, I'm good, most importantly...I'm still fighting!

I dedicate all of the above poems to my amazing family, all who've supported me over the years, those who sadly lost the fight, and to those who are still battling their demons...You can do it!

THANK YOU
